A workshop to remember, filled with Southern Charm.

Situated cozily in the beautiful horse country outside Lexington, KY, stunning Fairyhouse Hall has a Southern spirit and a soul that greets you warmly as soon as you enter its doors. A working farm and coveted event destination, this grand manor will provide the setting to our workshop. In addition to the workshop materials, events and excursions, your registration includes lodging at Fairyhouse Hall, as well as all of your meals. You are only responsible for your transportation to and and from the house.

Hands-on learning and experience, in a supportive, small-group setting.

We want this workshop to be valuable and meaningful to photographers and stylists of all experiences levels. Whether you’re an advanced pro looking to boost and broaden your portfolio and spend some dedicated time honing your craft, or someone just starting out, wanting to learn as much as possible as you kick off your photography journey – this retreat is for you. We want this time together to be as full, inspiring and fun as it can be, and that will mean something different to each guest.

Working together, playing together, supporting each other while we grow as stylists and photographers: what a luxury.

Our mornings and afternoons will take us (and our cameras) in and around the estate, where there will be plenty of rolling hills, grazing horses, and landscape photography opportunities. We will style and shoot a picnic underneath the home’s charming weeping willow tree, and enjoy some fun off-site excursions as well, including a bourbon tour and tasting along Kentucky’s gorgeous Bluegrass Parkway and its iconic Bourbon Trail.

We’ll dine under the evening sky around our styled dinner table, complete with twinkling candles and foraged wildflowers. We’ll enjoy casual farm-to-table meals prepared by the estate’s resident chef, as we discuss photography, blogging, and the creative life.

The workshop material will walk guests through the typical workflow that both Lauren & Lyndsey employ when creating and capturing both still life and motion-driven scenes; from selecting ingredients and styling the plate itself … to styling the scenes and vignettes … to shooting and post-process editing. With both a commercial and gorgeous home kitchen at our disposal, guests will enjoy crafting their own plates and practicing their own plating skills as well, before we ever pick up the cameras. We will cover multiple shoot styles and lifestyle scenes – from “flatlays” and dark and moody photography, to motion shots, storytelling and the manipulation and control of natural light. We will shoot candid moments at styled tables and focus on how to intertwine natural elements {florals} & food.

To conclude the retreat, Lauren & Lyndsey will go over post-process editing (specifically in Adobe Lightroom) and discuss their approaches to the business side of blogging and food photography (i.e. marketing, social media platform building, etc.).

** We will leave you with tools, tips and tricks to monetize your passion and turn your dreams into a profitable business.
